With all due respect, "clarinet playing" means playing MUSIC. With the dearth
of clarinet duet books in the offing, those of us who enjoy playing publicly
as duos, trios, or small ensembles are forced to try other things. I've been
the trumpet duet book, recorder duet book, etc. route and that works to some
extent. But expanding one's repertoire ultimately means checking into piano
music...more murky territory when it comes to copyright.

Both clarinet playing and clarinet performing are equally important in my
mind. For one thing, if we are to encourage a new generation of clarinetists,
young people need to hear clarinets played. The more venues we can find to do
that, the better.
