I have to totally back Dee up here. Being a student who has participated in S & E contests for many years I think the notion of not giving a student a grade due to the fact he has copied parts is simply absurd. I have never experienced a judge who has given a second thought to the idea.

To turn it into a question of ethical integrity on the part of the judge is way off base. The judge is there not as an officer of the law but to evaluate a student and his performance. To suggest he is responsible for monitoring violations of copyright law is ridiculous!!
