I'm curious: Has a case like this ever gone into a court or been tried or
anything? Because I have the same reaction to this as you did, Dee. I
find it rather ridiculous that my accompanist has impossible page turns.
And in order to alleviate this, I have to purchase _another_ copy? And
what about the soloist? I own two editions of Scene and Air. In both
copies, the page turns occur (for those of you familiar with it) near the
end of the 12/8 section. Right after the page turn, there's a cadenza. I
need to focus on playing the music, not turning the page! And I've seen
my accompanist turn pages like a madwoman to avoid missing a beat.

Have the publishers ever thought about printing the piano part in a way
so that the pages lay side by side instead of a book-type format? This
way, there are minimal page turns, and there won't be irate pianists out
there photocopying parts to avoid page turns. Thus far, from my limited
experience of performing solos, all accompanist parts I've seen are in the
book-type format, involving many page turns.

Just my 160 pesos (old pesos, not new!), 3 yen, 2 cents, etc.
