I suspect that when the brain imprints a certain embouchure, it
remembers it when changing from instrument to instrument. The challenge
comes when you have to remember the keywork changes and the difference
in pitch. I play piccolo, flute, clarinets, saxes and some oboe, all
reasonably well. I also can play trumpet and baritone horn (bass clef)
if not too complicated a part. I regularly switch between the woodwind
instruments and don't feel that my playing is compromised at all. I say
go for it! Have fun, too.
