I have an old Pan American but it appears to be wood and is probably older
than the 1940s. Although it is in playing condition, the lower tenon on the
the upper joint is worn enough that it wobbles when assembled and at some
point in its life, the upper joint was cracked and pinned. The repair is
very visible on this instrument.

Just curious, why are you trying to track down a 1940s student clarinet? Is
there an intriguing story here?
