Well, that depends on your definition of "large" and "habitable", but
if 120000 people is sufficient to be large, and the existence of a
professional orchestra is a key component of being habitable, then
Dunedin (also in New Zealand) would have to be a strong candidate. I
believe there's no larger and more southerly city in the world, and
our university is apparently the southernmost in the world, but it's
possible there might be an orchestra further south in Chile or
Argentina somewhere.
