back of this)

I was deeply saddened to hear of Christie Lundquist's death. I had the
priviledge of studying and performing with her for a brief time while I
attended USC. She was an excellent teacher and a fine clarinetist.

Many of us have studied with several teachers throughout our training, and
careers. Each of my teachers have left me with something important that I
carry with me every time I pull out my clarinet. Christie left me with the
importance of striving for "genius" whenever I play. For a young college
student trying to play Corigliano, Nielsen, etc., and trying to wow others
with technical proficiency, she was perfect timing for me. I believe I have
become a mature musician because of the recollections of her patient, kind
and inspiring instruction.

I had the opportunity to see her play at the 97 ClarinetFest. I also talked
with her briefly after not seeing her for 10 years. I feel lucky, knowing
now that she passed away, that I had the opportunity to give her a hug, and
tell her face to face how important she was to me as a teacher. She will be
fondly remembered by this former student....
