You are quite correct. When I moved to Los Altos, which is a very small
town, I bragged about being the best basset horn player in the city.
Then I found out that Alex Williams lives in the same town, and Alex
played with the NBC symphony and is (or was) a crackerjack player.

But I really was the best in El Centro, or at the least the best in the
motel in which I happened to be practicing.
