I was told by my college clarinet teacher (Dr. Mellott at Southern Illinois
University at Edwardsville) that it was pronounced "Rafe". He told me this
when I did his Six English Folksong (I can't remember the exact title off
the top of my head and the music is packed away with the rest of my college
stuff after moving back to my parents...(another story!!) ). Anyway, it was
originally for cello, but transcribed for clarinet. I did it on my Senior
Recital back in "92.
