Remember that many of you are eligible for educational prices on software.
Private music teachers are included, I believe, for music related software.
I think Finale and Encore have an educational price of around $250. No
break on upgrades, unfortunately.

I don't know if this applies overseas. Perhaps someone on the list does.

Keep in mind some significant (to me, anyway) limitations: It doesn't do
crescendo/decrescendo, trill, mordent, grupetto, coda or DS symbols. There
is no control over stem length (only direction), and little control over
beam placement. Also, it doesn't do grace notes.
With all that, it is much easier to learn than Finale, and much less
expensive. I agree with Gary Smith:
