I use Encore v3 at home, but at school last year I used version 4 of the
same program. Version 4 had a lot of better things, but it still had a few
little bugs. Version 3 is fine for me - it does everything. It's available
in Windows or Macintosh versions.
I have used a program called MusicShop (Mac only) but that was more a
rock/jazz program and really tricky to use. Same goes for a Windows program
called Freestyle.
Sibelius 6 and 7 are both supposed to be good, but they're not for IBM or
Mac - I think they're on Acorn. Personally I'd go for Encore.
