One should also consider the fact that many if not most listeners in the
audience go to a concert to enjoy the music and not necessarily the often
very unmusical antics of the soloist, destined only to show off his
dexterity. Applaus between movements is distracting, as is applaus starting
before the music ends. It seems to me a lot more appropriate to let the
music soak in first.
