Agreed, and I promise to hold all other things equal. :-) Now, which is
more free-blowing: close or open? And why? As I recall, playing my old
HS* was like trying to blow through an oak log!

The stuffieness of the HS* is caused, not by a close tip, but by the very
short opening behind the tip. Lengthen that part of the mouthpiece and leave
the tip relatively untouched and reeds which work on more open facing
mouthpieces will collapse on your HS*..........IF,IF, IF all other things are
equal........;-)
