Call me a skeptic, but it seems to me that it would require relatively
LARGE changes in the recipe to produce very SMALL changes in sound, given
the vast number of other variables in the design of the mouthpiece, not to
mention the instrument itself, the reed, the ligature, the player... I
would expect that the ultimate choice of material formulation would be
influenced more by workability and durability considerations than inherent
tonal qualities. Again, I am just working on instinct here. If I'm wrong,
I'd like to know where my error is.
