I' was diagnosed with TMJ when i was about 10. I've noticed that if I play my
clarinet for at least 30 minutes, the popping sounds go away, but if i
practice for more than hour I get sharp pains when i try to move my jaw. so
TMJ has only caused me problems during rehearsals where i've had to play non-
stop for over an hour. most of the time, there are rests and stuff suring the
piece so it doesn't affect my playing too much. the only problems i've had
with TMJ are dentist trips, but that's another story....
