David Blumberg wrote that Michael Russinek was the "last man standing" at
the Philadelphia audition and also won the principal position in Pittsburgh.

I heard the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra play a few weeks ago. They are an
outstanding orchestra, but they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mike
Russinek. This is, of course, why the National Symphony Orchestra has
advertised an opening for Russinek's current Assistant Principal and Second
Clarinet position.
See http://www.kennedy-center.org/stage/audition.html (Content of that
announcement follows.)

By the way, as an NSO subscriber, I've had many opportunities to hear
Russinek play first clarinet parts. He is a wonderful player, but I still
prefer the sound of NSO Principal Clarinetist Loren Kitt, who has been with
the NSO since 1970 and is also a Curtis graduate.
