I'll bet a strap will help PROMOTE correct right hand position. I have
seen too many beginners with the thumbrest way to far in toward the hand
because they can't support the weight where they should. Consequently,
they have to curl their fingers unnaturally to cover the holes. Horrible
habits are formed at this stage, and Joe Band Director who was a brass or
percussion major may not notice until it is too late.
