I have heard from others that Larry Combs' Corigliano is stunning--and
believe it. I just haven't had the opportunity to hear him play it.

His recording of excerpts is pretty flawless. I can't imagine having
the guts to sit alone in a hall w/ a microphone, to make a recording
that every college clarinet player will examine closely for years to
come. This guy is definitely in our pantheon.

I'll give it to Drucker on the

I heard a live broadcast of Larry Combs/Chicago (from 1984?) that was
out
of this world! I also heard him perform it on tour in LA in the late
80's.
Of course having the Chicago brass playing the end of the work doesn't
hurt
either. I've been waiting for a recording by Combs of this piece, but it
has not happened. If he had one, I think it would stand up to Drucker's,
and better Stoltzman's effort.
