Oiling the bore, by definition, means only the INSIDE of the instrument, so
it has little effect on the appearance of the finish. But if you have the
time and inclination, removing the keys and doing the outside too is good
for the finish, sort of like using lemon oil on your furniture. I know our
tech does this on all overhauls.
