I keep a polishing cloth in my case. At times it is difficult to wash your
hands. When I finish playing I make it a point to carefully wipe down the
entire clarinet to keep fingerprints from becoming a permanent addition to
the finish. Also, because you are playing right after eating you should
make it a point to either brush your teeth or chew some sugar free gum and
carefully rinse your mouth with water before playing.

As for the wood, don't use Pledge or anything like that. If you don't wipe
it completely clean EVERY bit of dust will begin to stick on the residue.
Use boar oil, but you should only need to oil it a couple of times a year.
