Nice horn.

Wood--do nothing. Old school thought was that oil would protect the
wood from water seepage--it was thought that water seeping in the grain
would expand, causing cracks. This is wrong. Your instrument will
crack if it is cold and you blow hot air into it, expanding the interior
wall's wood. To the extent that seepage has anything to do with it, oil
will expand, too.

My Buffets are 22, 35 and 9 years old. Never had a crack. The only oil
ever used is around the side F# & Eb tone holes to try and keep water
bubbles from forming (and if anyone has a better idea, let's hear it!!)

Keys--Wash hands before playing. Wipe keys after playing w/
non-polishing cloth.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Clarinet Finishes

I am a high school student and I have a Selmer Paris Recital Clarinet.
What
should I use on the wood, somebody told me boar oil or woodwind oil
somebody
also said Pledge is that safe to use or does anybody have a better
solution as
to what to use? In the finish on the keys you can see finger prints
what can
I do about that? This problem has just started happening since the
school
decided to have the band eat before lunch it seems to be ruining
everybody's
instruments. Any suggestions I appreciate any to solve my problems.
