I thought he joined the Philharmonic at age 19 in 1948, which would make
him 69 years old. Also I think he became principal in 1961. I am going to
the concert on May 30th to hear the Copland. There is also a pre-concert
recital in which he will play the Bartok Contrasts and the Bernstein
Sonata. I'll be there too.
