Somehow I missed the beginning of this thread and may have completely
misunderstood this exchange. Both David Shifrin and David Neuman studied
with Gigliotti at Curtis. (Where else and with whom else they may have
studied I can't tell you.) Montanaro joined Curtis later in the aftermath of
an internal dispute within the Curtis faculty. I could find out for sure
when the change took place, but I think Gigliotti taught there through the
mid-70's, by which time both Davids were out in the world. Shifrin may well
have studied with Marcellus afterward.
