I don't know how many of the V-12's you've tried, but (assuming that
you and your teacher don't decide you should back off to the 2 1/2's)
you may want to wait and suffer through a few boxes of the vandies -
Occassionally they go through periods where all the reeds in a box
are stiff and then swing to softer. My recent vandoren purchases
have been at the middle to soft side, but a few months ago, they were
all very stiff.
If you don't know already, you might also use this as an
opportunity to sit down with your teacher and learn about the wonders
of reed rush.
