Your reed selection is totally dependent on the mouthpiece that you are
using. With that said, unless you have some really wierd mouthpiece, a
V-12 #3 is probably not way too hard--you are just used to not working
at it. On most std. facings, anything softer than a 3 won't give a good
clarinet tone, and your intonation will be out of whack.

Hello all!
Once again I find that I need your help and advice....
My private instructor has put me on Vandoren V-12's, #3s, and they are
way too stiff. I've tried switching to a softer reed, like Rico Royals,
but they are too soft, and don't last as long. Can anyone offer me any
help?
