Well, Bill, the fact is - BECAUSE THAT WOULD MAKE WAAAAAY TOO MUCH SENSE!
As true clarinetists, we are stubborn and refuse to do anything easily.
Besides, everyone knows that your own arm is a better judge than any
scientific device. ^_^
