Garrett -
The "Ring" is Richard Wagner 4 operas, called as Des Ring Des Nibelungen --
The ring of the Nibelungs consisting of the following operas:
Das Rheingold
Die Walkure
Siegfried
Die Gotterdammerung (Twilight of the Gods)
More info is available at any large library with a Music Department. My
mother read me the story of the entire Ring when I was 9 or 10 years old.
She must have skipped over some parts of the plots, based on what I have
learned of them after I grew up.
For a hilarious summary of the entire "Ring", I recommend the Anna
Russell's Analysis comedy record or CD. It hits the highlights. Allthough
it probably won't be quite as funny if you have not seen or heard the
operas.
For those of you out there who are familiar with the Ring and haven't heard
Anna Russell on the subject try to locate the CD, which I have heard is
available - It's a reissue of the LP that I have. It gets funnier every
time you listen to it.
Have a great laugh.
