You might also want to include in your list the Gustave Langenus Complete
Method for the Clarinet. It is divided into 3 parts. I have also used
the Rubank method books and Essential Elements. Langenus, in my humble
opinion, is more advanced and complex than both the Rubank and the
Essential Elements. One major plus for Langenus is the fact that the
method concentrates on teaching its player the "essential elements" of
clarinet playing. This ranges from playing trills to cadenzas (and
believe me, there is much more to trills than most people realize).
Also, the Langenus method includes some of the most well-known orchestral
excerpts for the clarinet, a feature that many methods books lack.
