Subj: Since I didn't say anything on Marching Bands, I may as well do it now.

I just happen to be in the Marching Band at my school. I always thought the
main purpose for our band was to support the athletic teams, especially the
football team. Sure, we keep the fans interested during half-time, we keep
them roused up. Our Marching Band also converts back to the Concert Band at
the end of the football season. As for competitions, we owe it to ourselves
to come home with a trophy. We made up our minds to go play. If we didn't
want to, our director wouldn't make us participate in competitions. Heck,
out director doesn't really do anything during Marching season. He leaves
it up to the Drum Majors, the Section Leaders, and all of us to make our
band the best it can be. The director is just there for guidance. Anyway,
some people play in the Marching Band who aren't even enrolled in Band class
because they want to support athletics. As for electric basses, we have one
and he plays on the side with the keyboards. That is all.
