Matt Walter:
It
frustrates me that you have such a firm opinion without knowing what it is
like to be in a great marching band.

Matt, have you been reading? I have told you this, he has told you this.
He's posted it more than once.

Roger HAS been part of a great marching band.

One more time for posterity.

Mr. Garrett HAS been part of a great marching band.

He has the breadth of knowledge neccessary for this. He knows what he's
talking about. And once again, I shall state that you are looking at his
posts with the wrong set of eyes. He is not attacking marching bands. He
is not bashing marching bands. He is not flaming marching bands. He is
not hating marching bands. He is not attacking marching bands. He is not
bashing marching bands. He is not flaming marching bands.

Here's news: Roger LIKES marching bands!

*the list is knocked over with a wave of awe*

He questions the motivations of the heirarchy. He questions the
motivations of the heirarchy. He questions the motivations of the
heirarchy. He questions the motivations of the heirarchy. He questions
the motivations of the heirarchy. He questions the motivations of the
heirarchy. He questions the motivations of the heirarchy.

Okay? Don't take his comments personally. He agrees: it's a great
experience. But that doesn't mean that every director or booster has the
right reasons for having a program in the first place. He's not referring
to YOUR school, just some of the schools out there.

He knows what he's talking about. He has a right to question what he
questions. Exploring the issues of music and music education is something
a college professor is PAID to do. You don't have to like it. But you
need to get used to it.
