Hi Allison, like you I'm new here as well.

I am a sophomore in College, and have been a musician since the third
grade. I started with the violin and when that program died in my
school I was in the sixth grade. Ever since then I've been playing the
clarinet. When I was in my Junior year I found an old alto clarinet
locked up in the back cupboard and asked if I could play it. No one
else seemed to be able to make any sound come out of it so I got the
job. When I got here at college, the school didn't have an alto but did
have the larger contra-alto, I played that for a year and now I'm
learning the Bass. I just got back from my first honor band (MACCC) on
the bass, I never knew that I could practice for so many hours straight
(or that my face could hurt so badly afterwards.)

Anyway, I love the instrument and I love the music (and it's beautiful
range, that I am still learning about today.)

Hope you stick around for a while

Welcome Allison,

I hope that you will enjoy this list. There are all levels of players
here. Many excellent discussions take place all the time. Even though
some do get pretty heated, it is extremely educational.

As for myself, I am a product engineer in the heat exchanger field.
Playing and studying the clarinet is my avocation.
