I think you do, too. Playing the work in marching band can be the gateway
to learning more about the piece and ultimately appreciating it in it's
original setting, historical context, etc. Conversely, previous in-depth
knowledge of the piece can lead to better performance on the marching
field. In either case, learning is enhanced. However you lead the horse
to water, if you can get it to drink...
