Date: Mon, 2 Mar 1998 18:13:18 -0500

Greetings to all -

The Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra proudly presents BRAVO
BEETHOVEN on Sunday, March 8, 1998 at 3:30 PM at the BIG ARTS - Schein
Hall on Sanibel Island, Florida. Tickets are $12.00.

The program:

Egmont Overture

Second Piano Concerto in B-flat Major
Margaret Wacyk, Piano

Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major, the "Eroica

As Ms. Wacyk will be making her Carnegie Recital Hall debut later this
month, we are quite fortunate in being able to bring an artist of her
caliber to our concert stage.

The Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra is strictly an amatuer orchestra whose
personnel consists of high school and college students, doctors, home
makers, business owners and a whole bunch of us retiree retreads. This is
our third year as principally a "reading orchestra". We try to cover a
wide variety of repertoire, while, at the same time, presenting the
"Messiah" in December and two additional concerts each year.

Our Founder, Music Director and Conductor is Andrew M. Kurtz, a brilliant
young conductor, violinist and music educator.

I realize that the likelihood is small that any on the list will be in a
position to attend the concert, but I thought that a few of you out there
might be interested in what we, in our small way, are doing to enhance our
area's culture and providing the "symphony orchestra" experience for many
amateurs and someday professionals that they would not otherwise have.
Many of us play fairly well, but are not good enough or experienced enough
to qualify for any of Southern Florida's excellent professional orchestras.

Besides, this is our busy tourist season and if all of you tried to fly in
at one time, it would really mess things up at Southwest Florida
International Airport -- and we wouldn't want that to happen, would we.

Best regards to all,

Gene Nibbelin, Principal Clarinet, Librarian, Treasurer and Board

Member, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra
