Matt (Walter),
I wonder if you will feel this way in a few years? My high school had a
great marching band (emphasis on parades not half-time shows). We had
marching band in place of PE, only had one extra practice a week, only
marched from September through November (although we did the Rose Parade my
senior year and did some extra practicing).

But I still regret we didn't spend that time on stage band or woodwind
quintet or something more musical.

With any luck my son will attend the performing arts high school here,
which has no marching band (or football team). Sounds like paradise to me!

If my son wants to do marching band, he can do it in college where he will
at least be paid for it.
