I watched a PBS "Tribute to BG" hosted by Ed McMahon and featuring
Stoltzman several months ago. If it was the same one, then I have to
disagree you. In my opinion, although Mr. Stoltzman's technique was
impressive, I came away feeling that he didn't "swing". The clarinetist
who led the big band (sorry, I don't know his name) seemed to have a
much better "feel" for the genre. His instrument produced an edgier
"harder" sound than Stoltzman's dark, flute-like sound. I felt that the
former was also truer to the genre.

Can't help you on the barrel. Forgive all of the subjective terminology,
but it is a subjective evaluation. I await my flaming.
