Thanks to all for the kind words of support! I was really hoping,
however, to find someone who'd done this before or who could offer more
advice. I picked up my books yesterday, and already have come across 1) a
section for clarinet in C, somehwere in the middle of Siegfried, I believe
and 2) the last page of Die Walkure is clarinet in D (I have to assume
piccolo clarinet in D, which I can play on Eb, but when I asked the music
director about it he wasn't certain and said to confirm it with the
conductor when we begin rehearsals in May! I mean, I'm gonna need my own
personal assistant just to carry my horns!

I also confirmed that the person who played this part two years ago was
Jacob DeVries (he signed the books, of course!), who may or may not
remember me from my undergraduate days. I believe he lives in Houston;
anyone out there in touch with him?

TIA for any leads.......
