I've used Borbeck m/p's for sometime. Only recently have I changed to
Vandoren M135RV lyre. When he made mouthpieces 20 years, or so, ago he
would use a Chedeville blank. At somepoint he changed. I find a big
difference in his mouthpieces depending on the type of blank he uses. Most
definitely those mouthpieces that say "Steel Ebonite" at the bottom seem to
be the best of the more recent vintage. By far his most popular facing is
the #11. It seems to work the best and delivers a crisp staccato and a nice
penetrating sound.
