I am so excited, I can hardly control myself enough to type correctly! I
have been offered, and accepted, a contract to play third clarinet for the
Arizona Opera Company's Wagner Ring Festival in Flagstaff, first two weeks
of June. Way cool gig! I'm really looking forward to the opportunity,
plus the "sabbatical" I'm taking from my real job! (Hey, if faculty get
sabbaticals, why can't staff?) This is a totally separate deal from the
season contract orchestra; very few of the regulars are offered
contracts, so I feel special!

So this is going to be pretty intense....I'm wondering if anyone else out
there has ever done a full run of the Ring (we're actually doing it twice,
each over the span of a week) and what advice or info I can get. I
haven't got the books yet 'cause they're not ready -- yikes! We start
rehearsing May 8; unfortunately I will be signing off the list for the
duration as we move to Flagstaff the following week.

I'm beginning to feel more and more like a "professional"! ;+)
