Ed,
I would echo Jacqueline's comments on light tongue and support.
You might want to also check the reed strength, regardless of what the
printed number is on the reed. I had very good luck with a Vandoren 4 on
a Vandoren B-44 mouthpiece. I did have to work extra hard with the breath
support and it took me awhile to break in the reed and get it adjusted to
not be too hard. The 3 1/2 strength was too soft for me, that mouthpiece,
and how loud the conductor wanted the solo in "Symphonie Fantastique."
