Unfortunately, according to Encyclopedia Britannica, Sax (whose real
name was Antoine-Joseph, although he was also known as "Adolphe")
struggled for years in lawsuits with competitors who were trying to
revoke his patents and steal his ideas. "In his 80th year he was living
in abject poverty." Sounds like a true musician.
