:I understand that having a wood clarinet for marching band is a big no no.
I
:already have a clarinet that I use for marching band rehearsals, but this
:clarinte is so bad that I have been told that I'm not allowed to play it
for
:performances. So if I got an E-11 the only marching it would do is 3 days a
:year and I'll be a senior next year, so it'll only be marched 3 times ever.
:The rest of the time it would be used for school and in my high school's
top
:ensemble (which I sit 2nd chair in) we are required to have wood clarinets
so
:I can't really get a plastic one for school. I don't want to get an E-11
with
:silver keys. I think it's a waste of money, but since the price of a silver
:keyed on in the Woddwind is a lot cheaper than a nickle on anywhere else,
I'm
:willing to go silver.

:ps. you mentioned in your signing thing that yougo to amador valley high
:school. Is that the one in California? because if so, I go to some of the
same
:marching competitions as you.

I understand your position. And, if you're gonna be a senior next year
ANYWAY (Go Class of 2000! Woo Hoo!), my only advice is to REEEEEALY be
careful if it begins to rain or pour. (One El Nino Winter has taught us all
something about rain and wood).

Also, I agree with you going for a nickel plated clarinet versus a silver
plated one. There is no reason to. But, to be forced to have a wood clarinet
for ensemble? That's a tad harsh. Does your school provide for those less
financially able? (After all, just because the director want a dark, rich,
woody sound from us doesn't mean our bright, happy plastics can't do the
same, right? :-))

I hope you have great playing with your Buffet E-11! It really sounds like a
nice instrument.

P.S. Yes, I go to Amador Valley High in Pleasanton California (Cough
cough... 1997 WSMBC Class AA Champions <s>) And you? Which High School?
