While it was not me making the comment about the conductor and Amtrak, I
feel the conductor is taking advantage of the student....as I posted
earlier. No one questions the value in being able to double on Eb and
Bass....it is the quality of education that is being discussed. As a band
conductor, I do not ask students to double on too many instruments when
they are going to have problems with the double.....especially if the part
puts pressure on them to learn quickly.

Probably? If she doesn't, she is in a world of hurn relearning some
basic, fundamental playing - on the instruments she has already focused
on. I'm not sure the risk is worth the request.
