I have played 4 different alto clarinets in the past year (three Buffets
and a Bundy) and all but my new Buffet had problems on at least some notes
between D and G in the clarion register.

The new Buffet alto clarinet design has several resonance keys which
significantly improve the sound and responsiveness of these notes. The
throat Bb has also been significantly improved. However, the old Buffet
design had a second bridge mechanism which opened up a lower register key
on the clarion B-C#. This made for a wonderful middle line B. The second
bridge has been eliminated in the new design. The B is just ok, very
similar to my R-13 soprano clarinet.
