Why E-11 over Yamaha? Aren't both Plastic Clarinets?

In your previous letter, you mentioned that you are "prone to breaking
instruments". The Yamaha would not only be a cheaper alternative, but offer
similar if not equal performance power as the E-11. In a thread from a week
back, some listmembers were boasting about the merits of Yamaha plastic and
grenadillas.

Since this clarinet isn't really going to be too important (of course, every
clarinet is important, just some more than others.), and, as you have
mentioned, is only a rehearsal and outdoor clarinet so your R-13 doesn't get
ruined (I wonder how many people on this list DON'T have a good clarinet and
"that other one"... hmm... <g>), I believe a Yamaha would really do the job
at a lower price.

Also, don't count out the B-12's, even cheaper price, and easier to convince
your parents to pay $250 for an instrument that is gonna probably get lots
of wear and tear, than spend $600 for one that is going to go through the
same.

And while I'm on the subject, please don't limit yourself to Buffet and
Yamaha. Leblancs' VITO series have worked excellently for me on the marching
field. So have Selmers' BUNDY.

Best of luck on your clarinet search.
