IT'S A FACT (3)

These "facts" are taken from the CLARINET, a symphony quarterly that
appeared in the early 50s and are the opinions of various prominent
players, teachers and repairmen.
***********

A good method of checking the position of the mouthpiece is to sight the
speaker key through the opening between the clasps of the ligature that
are held together by the screws.
****************

Technical passages that can be played with the same fingering in both
low and middle registers should be practiced also in the low register in
order to ease the strain on the embouchure.
****************

To make an acceptable F#-G# trill on the plain Boehm clarinet, begin the
trill as usual and as speed is gained, shift the F# finger to the edge
of the ring while continuing the trill with the Left hand little finger
alone.
*****************

Don't tighten the top screw on the ligature more than enough to prevent
its rattling or turning. An over tight upper screw tends to choke the
reed.
