Probably because it is out of adjustment.....the pad that closes just
below the first finger of the left hand and operated by the bridge key
between the joints is not closing all of the way. Could be that the cork
is broken off, or it could be that the horn needs to be adjusted. You
can't play On the Trail if you don't have that fingering available
(actually, 1-2, but the same concept).
