Not at all. I appreciate the suggestion and of being reminded of what
things to look for.

Several people also suggested that there may be a problem with the
c-connector, and making an adjustment there has reduced the problem
significantly. Having been reminded of this, I now recall the c-connector
getting bent a few times during my high school days.

Thanks everyone for your help.

And by the way, I attended my first band practice in 30 years yesterday and
had a ball. The local community concert band welcomed me warmly and made me
feel right at home. It's going to take some work to get up to speed, though.
