I suggest that you try to get hold of a Lyons Clarinet in C. It is plastic, very light and
costs about 275 $(in Norway). I know that 5 year olds have started on this
clarinet.(playing by ear, no written notes this early). Most of my students start when they
are 8. On normal Bb clarinets.
