Clark,

Not wanting to pay Charles Bay's prices for a two-piece, "tune-able" neck for
my 1950 Selmer Paris professional grade bass clarinet, and noting that the
horn was evenly sharp with virtually every mouthpiece I tried, I went to the
local hardware store and bought two 1/16" thick fiber washer "tuning rings"
from the plumbing supply section which fit the mpc/neck joint perfectly. Out
the door for 30 cents plus tax. Now had the horn been flat, I would have
probably done what the original owner of the horn did which was to machine
approximately 0.050" off the mpc tenon and shoulder. I have not noticed any
appreciable difference in timbre with or without the rings.
