This is very interesting! Similar to the reason we seek out tuning rings
on the soprano clarinet? I wonder if the "choke" aspect affects pitch the
opposite way? I have found the throat G to be just slightly low on the
new Buffet....the rest of the note throat notes in tune (this is with the
2 pc neck pulled about 6 mm (like your Selmer). When a Bb soprano is
pulled and the gap exists on the inside of the bore between barrel and
upper joint (is this what you mean by the "choke"?) the pitch drops in the
throat tones....specifically the G!

I have to try this....it may solve the tuning problem I have encountered.
